MINNEAPOLIS – Federal agents executed search warrants across Minneapolis Tuesday as part of a long-running investigation into alleged fraud involving federal funds.
A federal official said 22 warrants targeted day care centers, businesses and homes, marking a significant escalation in the high-profile investigation.
The operation involved the FBI, Department of Homeland Security, and other federal agencies working alongside state and local law enforcement partners.
Authorities said the searches are tied to fraud allegations, though no arrests were announced and it remains unclear how many individuals are under investigation.
Minnesota’s attorney general’s office said several targeted sites are linked to a state program supporting children with autism spectrum disorder services.
The searches involved businesses tied to Medicaid funding, while other locations targeted in the operation were not connected to that program.
The raids follow longstanding allegations that some Minnesota businesses misused federal funds, drawing national attention and political scrutiny in recent months.
Authorities said the searches are part of an ongoing federal criminal investigation, and additional actions could follow as officials review collected evidence.
