The risk of pirates along the Somalian coast has dropped, according to a recent assessment from the major shipping corporations.

Six international organisations, including the International Chamber of Shipping (ICS), declared that the Indian Ocean will no longer be regarded as having a high danger as there had been no assaults on commercial ships there as of the beginning of the next year. Since 2018, the Somalian coast has been secure.

In 2008, Somalian sea pirates has emerged and they had hijacked several ships for ransom and gained widespread notoriety.

Although the threat of piracy has decreased, the US Energy Information Administration estimates that fewer than 10% of the world’s maritime oil commerce is carried by land in the canal connecting Yemen and the Horn of Africa.

In the multinational anti-piracy efforts on the coast of Somalia and the neighbouring waters, lowering the danger of piracy has been a key objective.
