MOGADISHU, Somalia — Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has welcomed Sudan’s intelligence chief on Wednesday at the Presidential Palace in Mogadishu.

Lieutenant General Ahmed Ibrahim Ali Mufaddal, Director General of Sudan’s General Intelligence Service, led the delegation arriving from Khartoum for official talks.

During the meeting, Mufaddal conveyed a personal message from Sudan’s leader, General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, to the Somali president and government.

President Mohamud praised relations between the two countries and emphasized Somalia’s readiness to collaborate closely on shared security priorities and development goals.

Officials said discussions also addressed regional stability, counterterrorism, and information sharing between national intelligence agencies operating in the Horn of Africa.

The Sudanese delegation expressed appreciation for Somalia’s efforts to stabilize its institutions and reiterated support for Somali-led initiatives to strengthen national sovereignty.

Mahad Mohamed Salad, Director General of Somalia’s National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA), participated in the high-level talks with his Sudanese counterpart.

They pledged to continue working against terrorism and transnational threats undermining peace in East Africa.

This visit comes as several East African nations reaffirmed bilateral partnerships and intelligence cooperation to tackle shared security challenges.
