MOGADISHU, Somalia – Dozens of Aden Adde International Airport employees staged a protest Thursday, demanding overdue wages and criticizing Favori, the Turkish-owned airport operator.

Workers said they repeatedly raised concerns about unpaid salaries, unfair treatment, and Somali staff being replaced by Kenyan, Ugandan, and Turkish employees.

The employees urged Somalia’s government to intervene, calling on President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud to protect workers’ rights and hold Favori management accountable immediately.

Complaints against Favori have surfaced repeatedly, citing irregular pay, poor working conditions, and limited visible oversight from both management and Somali government officials.

The protest ended late on Thursday, but employees vowed to continue pressing their demands until both management and government fully addressed grievances and ensured fair treatment.
