MOGADISHU, Somalia – Somalia’s capital, Mogadishu, witnessed a low-flying military display on Tuesday as F-16 fighter jets, recently delivered by Turkey, participated in a parade.
The jets, among the most advanced aircraft produced by the United States, flew alongside Turkish-made helicopters operated by the Somali Air Force personnel.
Turkey has expanded its military presence in Somalia, deploying officers across air, naval, and land forces, while maintaining modern warships off Somali waters.
Preparatory work at Mogadishu airport includes new hangars, maintenance facilities, and technical teams providing operational support for aircraft and ongoing military exercises.
Analysts say the developments highlight deepening strategic ties between Somalia and Turkey, particularly in the areas of security, energy, and advanced technological cooperation.
